Due to a
changing political and social
environment in Germany, The Diehl
family immigrated to the United States
in the
1880’s. A family of craftsmen, they
founded Diehl & Sons Inc in
1889, which specialized in manufacturing
horse drawn wagon bodies in Queens, New
York.
At the turn of the century,
transportation needs shifted from horse drawn
carriages to the emerging technology of
trucks.
The Diehl family adapted to this
advancement in technology and began
building truck bodies in 1904. In 1940,
they transformed their operation to a
full-service truck dealership and began
selling and servicing vehicles.
For 23
years, they operated a successful truck
dealership
and were ready to sell the business. In
1963, Bob Austin purchased the
dealership from the original Diehl
family members and took over as dealer
principle.
Mr. Bob
Austin brought years of experience and
insight to the dealership from working
at a major truck manufacturer. In 1970,
Diehl & Sons Inc. began offering
Mercedes Benz trucks at the dealership.
These vehicles were the first diesel
trucks imported and sold in this
country.

Doug
Austin, son of Bob Austin, entered the
dealership in
1974 and is currently the
dealer principle. In the 1980’s,
several key truck franchises were
acquired. In 1985, the dealership took
on Isuzu trucks. Mitsubishi Fuso trucks
were introduced to the dealership the
very next year. While Freightliner trucks
arrived at the dealership in
1989.
Once again
Diehl’s Truck World was leading
the industry by introducing the
Freightliner Sprinter van to the
United
States in 2001.
Widely popular in
Europe the Sprinter van was an ideal
candidate for the streets of New York.
For over
100 years Diehl & Sons Inc. has
provided transportation solutions for
the NYC-Metropolitan area. Diehl
prides itself on being on top of the
newest trends, and is always up- to-date
on the latest technologies. Diehl &
Sons has clearly withstood the test
of time. Innovative ideas, outstanding

success in the 21st
century. |
